Add Some Gold to Your Shade Garden
Adding a splash of something other than green to your shade garden can really spice it up. Unfortunately, our local home centers don’t always have that much needed splash of color. While there are a variety of choices, one of my favorites is the Richland Gold Hosta or the Gold Standard Hosta. This lovely little Hosta has bright sunny leaves that will surely add that color to the all green garden. The Hosta is of the medium variety so it will fit in just about any garden. It grows aproximately 20″ tall and has a spread of 18″-24″. This particular variety has nice little white to lavendar flowers in the summer. Yet another great thing about yellow leaved Hostas is that they can tolerate some sun so if your area is not entirely shady, then this one will still do quite nicely. Since Hostas are quite hardy, they will work in a variety of zones (3-8) as long as they get some winter dormancy.
